Camberley Register Office: Births, Deaths, Marriages and Ceremonies

Where Camberley Registration Office is now, how to book to register a birth or death, and where to give notice of marriage.

Camberley Registration Office is run by Surrey County Council and is now on the first floor of Camberley Library Hub, Knoll Road, GU15 3SY. It handles birth and death registrations by appointment only. You cannot give notice of marriage there; Surrey says to book at one of its other offices, such as Weybridge or Leatherhead.

Who runs it and where is it?

Registration in Surrey is run by Surrey County Council's registration service, not Surrey Heath Borough Council. The council's Camberley Registration Office page says the office has relocated from Surrey Heath House, Knoll Road, to the first floor of Camberley Library Hub, and gives the address as Camberley Library Hub, Knoll Road, Camberley GU15 3SY. It says appointments are by appointment only, Monday to Friday 9am to 12.40pm and 1.40pm to 4.30pm, and 9am to 12.40pm on the second Tuesday of every month.

Surrey's pages disagree on the date of the move. The office page says birth and death appointments take place at the library from Friday 31 July 2026; the birth and death pages give different closing and opening dates. Use the address on the office page.

Getting there. The nearest station is Camberley. Surrey says there is no parking at the library other than disabled spaces for Blue Badge holders, and suggests the multi-storey car park next to Camberley Theatre on Knoll Road, which charges, allowing 15 to 20 minutes to park and walk. The office has lift access, baby changing, a disabled cloakroom and card payment. See our parking guide and Blue Badge guide.

Registering a birth

Surrey says you must book an appointment to register a birth within 42 days of your child being born, and that children born in Surrey can be registered at a Surrey register office. GOV.UK says the same 42 days and that you can register at the register office for the area of birth or at the hospital before the mother leaves, if the hospital offers it. Surrey's page also says that from 9 November 2026 you must bring proof of your identity, in original form, to the appointment, and lists the accepted documents. If you are registering in Camberley, check that page for what to bring and who can register. Surrey also lists exceptions where a child born at Frimley Park Hospital can be registered at a Hampshire register office; read them on the page.

Registering a death

Per Surrey, a death must be registered in the county where it occurred, within five days of the register office receiving the medical examiner's paperwork, and the medical examiner's office will tell you when you can book. If the coroner is involved, the coroner's office will say when to book. Surrey sets out who can book online and what to bring. GOV.UK can help you find the right office if the death was elsewhere. GOV.UK says that after registering a death you can tell government organisations through its Tell Us Once service.

Giving notice of marriage or civil partnership

Camberley cannot take notice. Surrey's register offices page lists Camberley, Epsom, Reigate and Staines as birth and death appointments only, and says to book notice at one of its other offices. Its notice page says notice must be given at least 29 days before the ceremony, is valid for 12 months, and that if you live in a Surrey borough you book at any Surrey register office. It lists the original documents to bring. Surrey holds ceremonies at Guildford, Leatherhead and Weybridge and also at licensed venues.

Certificates

Surrey says copy certificates cannot be obtained at Camberley and must be ordered online or by post.
