How do I pay?

Both car parks above are ticketless: a camera reads your vehicle registration on entry, and you pay at a machine by entering your registration, with cash, card or contactless. The council's car parks and charges page also says you can use Multi-Park and RingGo to make paying easier.

Permits and Blue Badges

The council's permits page lists residents permits, non-residents permits, a parking subsidy season ticket and subsidised permits for charitable and community organisations. It does not show prices, eligibility or the application steps on that page, so follow the links from it for those details. Blue Badge guidance is on the council's parking page.

I have a parking ticket. What now?

According to the council's pay or challenge a parking ticket page:

  • Penalty charge notice (PCN) references issued by the council begin with HH, and you pay online using that reference.
  • You can make an informal challenge online within 28 days of the PCN being issued.
  • If an informal objection is rejected, the council says you have 14 days from the date of its rejection letter to pay at the discounted rate.
  • After a Notice to Owner, you have 28 days to pay or make a formal representation. If that fails you can appeal to the Traffic Penalty Tribunal.
  • If a charge is neither paid nor challenged, it increases by 50 percent.

Not every ticket is the council's. If your reference does not begin with HH, it was issued by another authority or operator.

EV charge points in the car parks

Main Square and Knoll Road both have electric vehicle charging. See our EV charging guide for the details.
